Two of Europe's biggest football clubs will come together for a special game in Munich next month.


MUNICH, GERMANY, July 20, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Football fans heading to Munich hotels next month could find their visit coincides with an exciting clash between two of Europe's most successful club sides.

Spanish giants Real Madrid are heading to the Allianz Arena for a special pre-season friendly with Bayern Munich, last year's Champions League runners-up, on Friday August 13th.

As well as providing a chance for some of the world's top players to spend time on the pitch before their domestic campaigns begin, the fixture has been arranged as an official testimonial match for German football legend Franz Beckenbauer.

Kicking off at 20:45 local time, the game is likely to feature global superstars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

With Holland preparing to take on Spain in the World Cup final this weekend, Robben and his Bayern team-mate Mark van Bommel could return to their club as world champions this summer.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said the idea behind the game is to give Beckenbauer, who left his hometown club to join New York Cosmos in 1977, a long overdue testimonial.

According to Rummenigge, the famous player's departure was "not marked in a worthy fashion and specifically not in a Bayern-like manner" at the time.

Tickets for the match are now available online, priced between EUR15 and EUR60 (GBP12.50 and GBP50).
